The Auckland Java User's Group
The Auckland Java User
- The Java User who runs the group is Lachlan Scott. If you want to be updated on when and where the meetings will be held, send him an email at lachlan.scott@taichichuan.co.uk. You should also email Lachlan if you intend to come to the meetings, as they might be cancelled if not enough people have confirmed they will be there.
The Group
- The group is open to any object-oriented programmers. Knowledge of Java is not necessary - the group is called the Auckland Java User's Group because it is organised by an Auckland Java User. Those of you who do not understand apostrophes might find the acronymic names JUDGEMENT and GOOD JUDGEMENT more enligtening. At the time of typing this the group is entirely Mac developers, but anybody is welcome.
Where
- Anne Whelan, the owner of Dymocks Bookshop in The Atrium on Elliot has very kindly offered us her premises for our next meeting.
When
- 18:00 - 19:00 on Wednesday the 14th of May.
What
- We usually talk about all aspects of programming and many other things which have tenuous links to programming. Showing off what programming you've done or asking for help with the programming you haven't done are welcome. There's also a chance to browse programming books as we meet in a bookshop. Of the meeting on May 14th, Lachlan says:
I propose to host a brief (and probably very lively :-) debate on the challenge of working with Java, XML and SQL.
Specifically, I'll be asking how we might best use an RDBMS to store objects described in XML ... anyone know a Cloudbase rep? :-)
Coffee will be provided; but no food inside the shop please. But as usual, we'll retire to a local eatery after the meeting and all are welcome.
Also as usual, bring your CVs and business cards
